After a long 20hr interesting bus trip a very confusing strange un organised boarder and scammed by them we are safely in Siem Reap, Cambodia. We were nearing cambodia and we arrived at a place that was a false boarder, luckily we were on to it. We stayed on the bus and carried on to the real boarder, you paid $20 US for your visa then 100 baht. Kelsey went first then I did, I over heard another group of europeans saying that 100 baht was a scam. I paid because I didnt want to mess with them. I told tim but it was just easier to pay than question. The group of europeans were held back because they were refusing to pay and did not pay. Nothing happened to them. We hope back on the bus and seem to be driving on the wrong side of the road and then we realise all the cars are left hand drive and this was normal to be driving on the right side. This makes crossing the road and sitting on the bus watching how they drive a million times worse! There are always new inventions we see, scooters with carriages on the back like a horse and carriage but a scooter, old wooden carts they pull along, a scooter with a huge truck trailer on the back, a whole family of 5 on a scooter, people sitting on top of vans, a baby sleeping on a scooter and a crying screaming baby on a scooter. We really have seen a lot of fancy ways to drive a vehicle. From the boarder to Siem Reap bumpest drive ever, massive pits in the road/dirt. That night we went out for dinner to a nice restaurant( it is very commercialised here) not as cheap as thailand. They use $US here. The cheapest meal is $4. We had european food as there are no places with real cambodian food. I didnt have rice or noodles it was the best thing ever! Duck with sweet mashed potato and bok choy, omg it was amazing even though my duck was overcooked. Im still not sure if it was that good or if i was just in need of a bit of meat veg and mashed potato! We had cocktails too $3.00 oh and creme brulee $4.00. The next day we wake up late, we needed that 11 hours we just slept. We put our long pants and shirts out and went out to find a scooter and carriage to take us out to ANGKOR WAT! A guy said he would take us there for $15,straight away tim denied because we are so use to being ripped off and scammed! He didnt give us a better price which the thais usually do so I went back and asked what the deal was, it was $5 each to take us for 6 hours and drive us between temples and wait for us at each temple. What a stunning place! It was jaw dropping! There are little kids that try to sell you things drinks, postcards, key rings or just $1 dollar they just break your heart they just beg and beg and will not leave you alone. We gave in a few times but we just couldnt help it they were way to cute. We were warned about this! Its another little scam but works well. We are now on another bus to Phnom Penh..........
We are now here in Phnom Penh, going to the killing fields today
Love you xxxx
